Ait Bougumez (Happy Valley)
Happy Valley — Natural and Cultural Heritage
Overview
The official Ait Bougumez geosite (GS-7) represents the geological and cultural heart of M'Goun Geopark. The Happy Valley combines remarkable Jurassic geology with exceptional Amazigh cultural heritage.
Ait Bougumez valley, nicknamed the 'Happy Valley', is one of the jewels of M'Goun Geopark. Surrounded by peaks exceeding 3,000 metres, it offers a landscape of exceptional beauty. The Jurassic geology of the valley, with its limestone layers and sedimentary formations, is of major scientific interest. The Amazigh cultural heritage — collective granaries (agadir), pisé villages, agricultural terraces — makes it a reference site for ethno-geology. The valley is a starting point for the ascent of Jbel M'Goun (4,068 m).
