Overview

Major palaeontological site with perfectly preserved sauropod dinosaur footprints in the red layers of the Upper Jurassic. This leading scientific geosite offers a unique window into the prehistoric life of the High Atlas.

The Iouaridène site is one of the most important palaeontological sites in M'Goun Geopark. The sauropod dinosaur footprints, perfectly preserved in the red layers of the Upper Jurassic (~150 Ma), bear witness to the presence of these prehistoric giants in what is now the High Atlas. The site is protected and is the subject of international scientific research. A guided tour allows visitors to understand the geological history of the region and the importance of these discoveries for world palaeontology.
