Ibaqualliwn Dinosaur Footprints
Upper Jurassic — Ait Bouguemez Valley
Overview
The Ibaqualliwn site is the third major dinosaur footprint site of the M'Goun Geopark, located in the Ait Bouguemez valley. Sauropod and theropod tracks in the red layers of the Upper Jurassic complete the unique paleontological circuit of the geopark, with Iouaridène (geosite 7) and Ait Blal (geosite 8).
The presence of three major dinosaur footprint sites in the M'Goun Geopark territory is exceptional on a global scale. These sites testify to the richness of the dinosaurian fauna that populated the alluvial plains of the High Atlas approximately 150 million years ago, during the Upper Jurassic. International scientific research is regularly conducted at these sites.
